My mother was an usher at an early Peter, Paul and Mary concert. And my Dad met and became a huge fan of Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm. And they were Republicans. There used to be liberal Republicans...

I finally got to see them live in concert on a reunion tour in the '80s, as good as ever. I missed the chance to see them at my school, though. After I graduated, Paul's wife became chaplin, so they performed there.
