The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsCame close to cashing in this time.
Two weeks ago my room mate suddenly decided I needed to be in the ER. Seems I'd stopped eating a week earlier due to a bowel blockage and some blood infection that I had no clue was there. I was lying in my bed happily fading away, and I had no idea.
After over a week of IV antibiotics and brown bombers things began to clear up and out, and my brain started working again.
I'll still be here for a couple more weeks, but we're focusing on therapy for my arthritis (I have completely lost the use of my legs). I finally got my laptop here and I'm back online, and I'm back on my mental game (I repaired a nurse's computer for her this afternoon. She owes me a plate of spaghetti.) .
What'd I miss?

You may be the ONLY DU'er in The Lounge to admit that you were full of shit!!!
.
.
.
I know about the brain thing -- Kali filled me in much later on some major things
that I was completely unaware of... like me dying and having to be put on a
respirator for three days.
.
.
.
I'm STILL finding out things -- MAJOR things -- that I was too cloudy/foggy/damaged
to realize during the first several weeks of my problem.

.
Rest up and take advantage of the therapy while you have it. Physical and Occupational
Therapists are some of the most helpful and committed and cheerfully optimistic people
in the business.

.
Laptop (obviously) is a GREAT big deal as far as getting back to civilization (who'da thunk
THAT would ever be said about The Lounge?)
.
.
.
I shoulda thought of bartering something in return for smuggled-in food.

(30,755 posts)I am glad someone was looking out for you.
We all need someone to check on us.
I can now remember how angry I was when I had e. coli and they would not leave me alone to go back to bed and get warm. I did not know I was dying, even when they put me in a helicopter.
Stay safe, and check in with us regularly.
