Jen, my wife, got a new job.

We just got the call a few minutes ago. It's more hours and a better hourly rate plus commission. It could not have come at a better time. It will give us some much needed breathing room, financially speaking.

She was working in retail for $7.50 an hour. After the holidays, they cut her down to about ten hours a week. She just called them and told them to take that job and shove it. Well, she was nicer than that about it . Nicer than I would have been.

Being financially strapped is always hard. I was for years and years and even though I'm OK now I still find myself worrying about whether I can replace something or leave it broken so I can eat at the end of the month. Or buying clothes for myself. Never mind doing anything like going to a movie or even out to eat.

Then I remember I have the money now and my heart sings! Being OK financially is very liberating, especially after being strapped for a long period of time.
