What is your favorite TV show that was cancelled too soon? I would have to choose Firefly. I always seem to like TV shows that only last a season or two.

(12,328 posts)Donna Dixon, Wendie Jo Sperber, Holland Taylor.
You could see Hanks' talent shining through way back then.
It was on from 1980-82. I was really upset when it was cancelled, but obviously many of these actors/actresses went on to better things.

(3,569 posts)Aaron Sorkin. Bradely Whitford, Chandler from Friends, etc. Loved that show and the NOLA/Christmas episode was as good as TV could ever be,

(3,275 posts)I have the show on dvd. I got it for a couple of bucks at a thrift store.

(53,339 posts)In that case there was a good reason for the cancellation--it was so Sorkin could do The West Wing.

(3,569 posts)too good for TV I thought.
AngryOldDem
(14,061 posts)I found it a little rough around the edges, but I also saw potential. I think one of the problems some people might have had with it was that it came right on the heels of The West Wing, and people couldn't switch their gears that quickly.
Networks need to give shows a decent chance. They make decisions based on early season ratings. In some cases, cancellation is justified, but in others, the execs should try to stick it out and let the shows show their promise.
To this day whenever I see Sarah Paulson, I think of her "Studio 60" character.

(4,033 posts)about 8 years ago. Donnie Wahlberg was in it. Fox dropped it after 3 shows here in the States. However a whole year of the show was filmed and shown in England. I finally found it on DVD & watched the season. The show was being ended, so the writers and producers ended it with an appropriate ending.
The premise was that Wahlberg's character and attorney had killed his mistress in Baltimore. He goes on the lam with his wife & 3 kids ending up in Iowa and trying to figure out who really did kill the woman.

(8,389 posts)One day years and years ago, there was a terrible storm and I had hurt my back, so I started to watch MSCL on an MTV marathon all in one night way before binge watching was a thing. I fell in love with the show, only to find out that the first season was its last.

(14,061 posts)Some shows need more than a season to come into their own. My So-Called Life was one of them. But it did give us Clare Danes.

(100,105 posts)Don't get me started on how much I hated the Netflix revival - that doesn't count as a season to me.
beac
(9,992 posts)Still laugh as hard re-watching an original episode as I did the first time. Still bitter about the revival.
Initech
(100,105 posts)It just doesn't work that way. The ensemble is what makes the show so great in the first place. Of they could do another season with the same cast and the same writers in the same room together, that would be amazing. But easier said than done sadly.

(9,992 posts)(Michael) and turn him into an asshole.
Michael's struggle to deal with his crazy family without losing his honor and his mind was the source of much of the comedy in the orginal. His occasional slips ("Chareth Cutestory" and efforts to make amends added to the hilarity. Making him a full-time jerk in the revival was one of the biggest disappointments for me.

(206,154 posts)I also really liked WIOU which was a behind the scenes look at a local TV newsroom. I used to write the descriptions for the newspapers for the networks, mainly CBS and FOX (The Simpsons, not FOX News ) and those were two of my favorites.
