Oh JOY. It's one of those "There seems to be something stuck in my tire" mornings.

It is currently "Spring Cleaning Days" on my town, which means the residents put every kind of crap you can imagine curbside and the city picks it up free.

This means nails, screws, broken glass, all kinds of stuff.

This morning...and I DO NOT KNOW WHY...I had a compulsion to go out and look at my car.

"Looks OK to me."

Turned around and started to go back in and I thought "Look again."

Walked over to the passenger side.

"STILL looks OK."

Walked back to the house and thought "NOPE. Go take another look."

For reasons unknown to me, I walked to the back passenger tire and saw a 1/4 piece of thin metal stuck in the tread. No idea what it is, how big or how deep it goes.

If the universe is on my side it didn't puncture the tread. If it's not, approximately 25% of a very small client check I am expecting in the mail is going to go toward repairing the tire.

Always something. Happy Hump Day.

THe good news - it's cheaper to plug a tire than to replace it LynneSin Mar 2012 #1

...the last time this happened, around six months ago, I had a threaded bold go into the tire that was so big the hole couldn;t be patched. Luckily I found a used tire that was the exact make and model with...believe it or not...the same amount of tread wear as my other three tires.

So this time I have my fingers crossed for taking it in, having them pull it, saying "it didn't go through," and then I just go back to work.

Like I said, walking out and inspecting the car is not something i do on a seven day a week basis.

I agree, it is so much better to find a tire problem while stationary and at home. Hoping it is a minor repair and not too pricey.

you can get a plug kit and do it yourself for less than $10, or if it is really small a can of foam will hold for a long time.

(and first chance you get make sure you have a spare that is a real tire, not one of those silly donuts)
