He/we got robbed. I just downloaded a bunch of his jazzy works, but mostly remember the early Mothers of Invention stuff. We saw Zappa Plays Zappa a couple years ago (with Dweezil) and it was a nice trip down memory lane. I also recently saw an interview with him on the Dick Cavett Show. What an interesting human being he was, and so talented.

It was when he was doing the Roxy & Elsewhere anniversary tour. I mean the guy who they got to do Zappa's vocals was amazing, and it was pretty cool to see some of the old Zappa regulars like Napoleon Murphy Brock and Terry Bozio play with the band as well. I even got my picture taken with Dweezil and got a DVD signed after the show.

Both Terry Bozio and Steve Vai made an appearance. It was quite a memorable experience.

I've often mentioned its' greatness when referring to how much republicans and the ultra religious suck.

From Lonely Little Girl (We're Only in It for the Money, 1968)

All your children
Are poor unfortunate victims
Of systems beyond their control

.....

A plague upon your ignorance
And the gray despair of your ugly life
All your children
Are poor unfortunate victims of lies

Even though I have been hippie since puberty, I also enjoyed his making fun of the hippies, which was most apparent on the same album.

Bongo Fury is a live concert favorite with a fantastic lineup. I love the jazzy Waka Jawaka and Grand Wazoo LPs. Too many to name.
