I don’t know what made me wonder this morning when the first movie fan magazines came out. I guessed it was maybe in the late 1940s, but I guessed wrong. The first ones I remember were from the early 1960s. The stories by that time were mostly gossip and fabrications (Liz was able to steal Eddie from Debbie because Liz wore lacy pegnoirs to bed and Debbie wore cotton pajamas), but they were fun.

I wish some of the articles were available to read online.

Here's a Motion Picture combined with Hollywood Magazine cover from December 1943, when I was born. I always liked Alan Ladd. It must have been destiny.
