I really admire this dog I photographed

Just chilling on some dude's car roof in South Bombay at night

It's all in his casual attitude. "Zero fucks given", he says. "There's no Mitt Romney in India, so I'm cool here."

We should all be roofdog.

Like, you just kind of expect to see them anywhere.

There are some civil services that go around giving them rabies vaccination, and most of the temples feed them (plus there's generally enough garbage lying around for them to eat). One big plus of there being dogs (and a few cats) everywhere is that you rarely see rats. In the slums they basically just get adopted by kids as pets. OTOH in Muslim neighborhoods they're usually chased away, which is why one way to tell a block's religion is by whether it's got dogs or cats lying around.

One thing that's not done is neutering them; people don't neuter their pet dogs either (and seem to see no connection between that tendency and the huge number of street dogs).
