The Old Soldier

Hoar Stones, in Enstone, Oxfordshire, is a neolithic chamber tomb consisting of three remaining standing stones. The largest is called the Old Soldier. Legend says that the stones will return to their place if anyone tries to move them, and that on Midsummer’s Eve the Old Soldier travels down to the village (in the form of a human, I guess?) to drink.
