I'm not a big fan of westerns in general, but the originals (both the Japanese one and the American one) were excellent

But I believe---and I think you know it---that Kurosawa's movie was the best rendition of the story.

It's like the producers can't come up with anything new any more, so they remake a classic.

... but "His Gal Friday" beats "The Front Page" IMO. Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell just had great chemistry.

And I liked Lester's Musketeer movies (screenplays by George MacDonald Fraser) more than the innumerable other versions of the tale.

Classics gonna have remakes, at least it took over 50 years to get one for the Magnificent 7.

They'll be remaking 'Shane" next.

BTW, I did like the Coen Brother's 'True Grit'.

I love westerns. The Magnificent Seven is one of my favorites. I hope they don't screw it up.
