Love a good Western film - new one has a high standard to reach:

(56,828 posts)I'm not a big fan of westerns in general, but the originals (both the Japanese one and the American one) were excellent

(28,262 posts)But I believe---and I think you know it---that Kurosawa's movie was the best rendition of the story.

(15,220 posts)It's like the producers can't come up with anything new any more, so they remake a classic.

(17,200 posts)... but "His Gal Friday" beats "The Front Page" IMO. Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell just had great chemistry.
And I liked Lester's Musketeer movies (screenplays by George MacDonald Fraser) more than the innumerable other versions of the tale.
Classics gonna have remakes, at least it took over 50 years to get one for the Magnificent 7.

They'll be remaking 'Shane" next.
BTW, I did like the Coen Brother's 'True Grit'.

(3,275 posts)I love westerns. The Magnificent Seven is one of my favorites. I hope they don't screw it up.
