Found another jar today metal detecting-this one was full of gifts-for Corey-RIP.
For the record yes I do a lot of detecting. And if it meets the criteria I dig it up.
Here is my last find...A "spell jar"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018831601
Today I saw a freshly planted tree at the back of the park I was detecting. Same park as in the thread by coincidence.
You never know what gets brought up when the park (or gophers) dig so I scanned the base area & got a decent signal.
Pretty much right away I knew it was freshly buried-the paint on the jar lid was bright. I also saw it had "stuff" inside so I carefully got it free from about 8" down.
Hot wheels-lots of them. Long horn shaped item (pipe) & a couple of lighters, some rolling papers-and some really (Really!)nice gold buds. I also noticed the top of the jar had been painted with the name "Corey". Obviously they were left for him and of course I don't want to disturb the sanctity any more than I already had.
I had found a fairly rare find earlier. 5 older Hot Wheels all in the same hole about 10" down. I'm sure they were buried by a kid way back when-too deep & all in a pile. Kids do the darndest things it is true....
So I put the jar back-neck down so the lid was farther away & harder to detect-I then added the 5 older cars to his collection burying them beside the jar. I didn't have any spare bud to add(his was better than mine by far) but I smoked a few tokes from my stash before moving on.
Then I took a few rusted bottle caps, nails & fair size piece of iron & buried them above the jar-making it "invisible" to most detectors.

Somebody loved you & misses you Corey-and I know you were a guy who had pretty good taste in toys & herb-too bad you died young.
And a strange day indeed metal detecting. I hope you rest in peace and your family has comfort.
