Will Ferrell To Return For Anchorman 2?
By NIKKI FINKE | Wednesday March 28, 2012 @ 5:45pm PDT
EXCLUSIVE: Ive learned the sequel finally came together today. The comedy Anchorman 2 will be produced under mogul Judd Apatows banner. Adam McKay will direct as well as write the script with Will Ferrell who will star again as Ron Burgundy along with the 2004 originals castmembers Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy had been a DreamWorks production but Paramount took over the project after DreamWorks 2.0 departed the studio. Gee, I used to own the complete set of Anchorman booblehead dolls and finally gave them away because I didnt think theyd ever be worth anything. Dumb, dumb, dumb!
UPDATE: OOPS! I think that ace Action4 anchorman Ron Burgundy himself scooped me (inbetween picking his teeth). Heres a clip of him making the announcement on Conan OBriens talk show to be aired later tonight:

(30,885 posts)7. It's a love it or hate it movie, I'll give you that.
I approached it from the viewpoint of "it's deliberately bad." I very clearly remember moving to California in the 70s, and the Bay Area had the very well-established "KGO News Team." The egos, the fragile dynamic...it could have been the "Anchorman" team, just like any other similar news "team" across the nation.
Van Amburg, the "Ron Burgundy" figure of the group...one of the biggest egos you'll ever find squeezed into one body.
They actually did a "KGO Cowboys" promo, remarkably similar to material that ended up in "Anchorman."
Jerry Jensen was gay, and according to stories that surfaced after the news team was dissolved in 1986 (the station said it wanted a "new direction" , Jensen's sexual orientation was a constant source of friction between him and Amburg.
Don't remember sportscaster John O'Reilly because I never really cared for sports.
Weatherman Pete Giddings was another massive, massive ego.
I have to believe that Ferrell...or someone on his creative team...knew about these guys and incorporated their legend into the film.

Can Will Ferrell make any movies without royally fucking up?
