Who's played the same live-action role onscreen the most times?

If the question were about TV actors playing the same character in different shows, the answer would probably be Richard Belzer, but I'm asking only about films, and I'd like to limit the question to wide-release films on the big screen. For entirely subjective and arbitrary reasons, I'm also excluding classic serials like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, and various westerns.

But which actor has appeared in the most live-action films as the same character?

William Shatner and James Doohan played their Trek roles seven times on the big screen, and Leonard Nimoy appeared in eight Trek films. Walter Koenig also played Checkov in seven outings while Nichelle Nichols portrayed Uhura in six (this doesn't include Star Trek: Of Gods and Men.

Scarlett Johansson has played Natasha Romanov five times already with at least two more likely films on deck, while Jeremy Renner has played Hawkeye four times so far (with those same two films likely forthcoming).

Others who come to mind right are Kenny Baker (R2-D2 in 6 films) and Roger Moore (James Bond in 7 films). Robert Downey Jr. might take the prize (Tony Stark in 7 films so far with at least 3 more in the pipeline).

Who else?

And if you Google it, you're a big dirty cheater.

Same character in 8 films. So that ties Nimoy. But there's probably another role/series I'm missing.

Ok, found this. From her spokesperson, but sounds legit.

But the Harry Potter actress says she only set up a company in the British Virgin Islands to protect personal details about herself. In a statement to the Spectator, her representatives wrote:

Emma (like many high-profile individuals) set up an offshore company for the sole purpose of protecting her anonymity and safety. U.K. companies are required to publicly publish details of their shareholders and therefore do not give her the necessary anonymity required to protect her personal safety, which has been jeopardised in the past owing to such information being publicly available.

The statement goes on to note that Watson “receives absolutely no tax or monetary advantages from this offshore company whatsoever – only privacy.”

The article goes on to say

Setting up an offshore company is not by itself illegal or evidence of illegal conduct.

22 times.

In 1931, the Fox Film Corporation cast Swedish actor Warner Oland as Chan in Charlie Chan Carries On; the film became popular, and Fox went on to produce fifteen more Chan films with Oland in the title role. After Oland's death, American actor Sidney Toler was cast as Chan; Toler made twenty-two Chan films, first for Fox and then for Monogram Studios.
