I'm about to go stir crazy. Too cold and wet to do any yard work or gardening.

So, how did you score a day off? Do a House on a patient and you were sent home?

No, I had a continuing education class today, and it got out early. Any day where I can be in my pajamas at 2 in the afternoon is a good day.

It will make for a playlist for work that lasts for hours, and is music few of my co-workers would object to.

Who can not like him?

We going to have a Shakespeare quote this week? I was thinking a picture of Trayvon Martin with "Do I not bleed ..."

I can hang out for a bit, till it's time for me to go to my Thursday Farmer's Market...

I'm glad you scored a day off! Even a day for continuing education is largely relaxing!

There's a huge responsibility in medicine to stay well-educated. But at least I can get paid for it...

I hadn't thought about that...

I always listen to the nurses; they're the ones with the smarts.

I joke with my patients sometime when they remark on how hard my job is. I tell them: "I just show up, look smart, and do what Audrey tells me to do."

For the moment: thanks for keeping me company, sarge. I appreciate it.

After my workout, though, I'm going to clean up, and then take myself out for some Greek food.

What's your day been like, sarge? Other than rainy and gray?

18. Standard day

Woke up after the second cup of coffee. Fed the birds. Spousal unit made breakfast. Read the news. Love that scene in Roxanne -- Martin pulls a newspaper out of the box, reads the headlines, screams, throws the paper back in. A little netsurfing. Did the chores. Read my Kindle, a history of the Stuart dynasty. Grazed. Took a nap. Surfed. Talked with you. This retirement thing, it's hell.

I'm back from my workout!

I can't wait for retirement. I've still got several decades left in my working career, and still I can't wait to retire. All the time in the world to read all I want. My idea of Heaven.

Comfy chair, proper lamp, cuppa tea or glass of wine, some Wolfie on the headset, good book. As close to Heaven as I'll probably come.

I've got a large, blue, overstuffed leather armchair where I do all my reading. I was practically glued to it when I was in school, studying all the time. But now, it's just for relaxing, and recreational reading, with coffee year-round, or hot chocolate for those winter days made just for staying home and warm...

As Washington is a State filled with later migration (post revolution and, largely, post civil war) I am curious on how you/your family arrived in the state. Unless you are a native american which is interesting in itself.

We all have a story to tell.

My dad's last duty station was Ft. Lewis, now known as Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Also known as one of the most troubled, violence-prone posts in the Army now. When I lived there, it was a sleepy, quiet uneventful place to grow up.

My whole family is originally from the Deep South. But we are all confirmed Washingtonians now. I love it here, rain and all...
