I feel kind of bad that I just posted

kind of a mean post in response to a facebook friends stupid post. It was one of those things that has been shared thousands of times and it said something about remembering before voting in the next election that the average price of gas was 1.78 per gallon before Obama took office.
I commented, "Where in Saudi Arabia? The averave price of gas in January of 2009 was 3.86/gallon in the United States and actually went down a penny the day Obama took office. Please do some simple research before reposting from crackpots!"
Now I feel bad because my friend who reposted this crap is the sweetest woman in the world she's just very politically unaware. What possess people who don't know whats going on in the world to post this stuff if you have no interest stay out of it, if something peaks your interest look into it don't just parrot what someone else tells you.

2. You know, I don't do it often, but I had a friend do this kind of thing through email.

I finally lost it, got my info together and made a response to her and sent it to all.

A very strange thing happened. Anyone who did send something to me, was very careful to at least check with snopes first.

that sais that sounds kind of nasty what did you do with the real LoveMyCali?

I think I should make sure I'm calm before I answer her and tell her I'm sorry if I was nasty but I'm sick of people speading misinformation.

5. It would help if you can give her a link to an article that stated the right number.

Establish yourself as an authority.

Those gas numbers sound like pre-Bush era.

and I do owe her an apology for being so rude but at least for a little while I'm going to put facebook and gas prices on hold while I go have a cup of coffee withmy sister to celebrate her birthday. My sister usually makes me a nicer person

But you have found the secret to surviving this era in history. Spend more time with people that make life pleasant, and less with people that darken your moods.

when they do something like that.

I don't think Obama has much control over the price of gas to begin with.

that I finally snapped on the sweetest woman in the world. She recently spent thousands of dollars (and she's in no way a wealthy person) trying to save a stray cat that found her. I could have responded nicer but for one thing for crying out loud, when is the last time you remember paying under 2 dollars a gallon for gas, shouldn't that tip people off that it isn't true?

8. Well, I can remember paying less than $2 a gallon.

That was in the '50s when gas was in the single digits and there were gas wars everywhere.

and apologize for being a little rough. You could say that you just had to state the truth, but maybe should have done it with a little more tact. And you could say that you value her friendship.

9. I get stuff like that from time to time. I just reply all with a little note

that says something pretty non offensive but provides a link to proof that disputes what they've posted. I don't know if anyone ever checks the links or if I've changed anyone's mind, but I just can't let that kind of ignorance stand without trying to show the truth. It gets pretty frustrating sometimes.

11. Sweet people are targets for these type of lies because they're trusting

They trust their friends to tell them the truth and they leave themselves wide open to be exploited and manipulated.
