Our former lawn care guy died the other day. He was only 36.

Ricky took care of our lawn all of last summer and up until about a month ago this summer. The last thing I had him do was clear out an out of control flower bed behind the house. I then told him I would be taking care of the yard again after that. He thought he had done something wrong and that I was getting rid of him because of that. I told him that wasn't the case at all and I just needed to get my big ass out of the house more and do that stuff myself.

He had a brush with the law recently for shoplifting and he had a history of drug abuse, I guess looking back on it now I can see the warning signs that I wasn't before that something wasn't quite right with him lately. I don't know what his cause of death was, but when someone with a history of drug abuse dies that young, it's probably a safe bet that it had something to do with drugs.

always a shock when someone you know dies, especially that young. I remember at a company I worked at, two people died, one on the factory floor and one at home. Neither one was out of their 40's. They were several years apart, of course, but still, is a huge shock.
