(5,480 posts)it's be just like the people that did the Ikea instructions. I'd *love* to know what they were using when they did them (can't say 'wrote' them, since there is no text; just illustrations.)

(34,138 posts)ALL the cabinets in this house are IKEA - kitchen, both bathrooms, closet. I did all the planning, ordering and assembly. The builder insisted the carpenter guy install the cabinets but I would have done a better job.
Frankly I didn't use their instructions very much. I used advice from a web site called IKEA fans that had lots of ideas how to use IKEA cabinets in innovative ways.

(5,480 posts)it's just that the way the instructions are done, it's almost like someone was ingesting something that changed the way the mind worked.
The Ikea Hackers site is also a good place to get unorthodox uses for Ikea products. Lots of great ideas and implementations there! http://www.ikeahackers.net

(34,138 posts)Think of the nightmare of translating written instructions into all the languages used where IKEA sells their products!
I've got one more IKEA cabinet to assemble and install, then never again. Most of my cabinets were assembled in 2007. I have a tall cabinet that needed to go on top of a counter but I only got around to having the counter made this year. I just need to attach it, measure the height to the ceiling, cut the IKEA cabinet down to the correct height and put it on top. Then I can install the doors and interior drawers to add a bit more storage in this room.
