(47,209 posts)me, too. My wife didn't have to twist my arm when she wanted to watch the closing ceremonies instead... I'm recording FTWD, though

I truly hope not too much time is spent jumping between the scattered.

(46,757 posts)It wasn't bad. Nick's backstory was important and we got all we needed last night, in addition, we got a setup to a new colony of survivors. I'm curious to see if this one is going to go Terminus, or if it is the beginning of the fight back.
Remember, this one is called "Fear the Walking Dead." Not "Walking Dead." Maybe we'll get to see a group get a foothold that, in the two or three years time that we have seen Rick's group, has managed to prevail and make headway.

Hey Nick. GET THAT FUCKING BASEBALL BAT!!!

(12,047 posts)Hate hate hate Nick - why they made him the center of this world is ridiculous. Everybody should want him dead.
A 5 ft 100lb lady fucking robs him? With a bat??? LOL! What an idiot.
Why does the guy with the revolver just stand there and let himself get eaten? Why didn't Nick see/hear that Jeep coming with miles of open road in every direction. Cheap and lazy writing.
Then he magically escapes from the middle of a 4 lane highway, 30 ft from a bunch of guys with guns - and then walks 100 miles to Tijuana? Total bullshit.
A whole, boring show about him & only him smearing himself with blood, again, & walking with the zombies, again
. blah blah blah boring.....then more magical saving into another community. Blah blah blah. Lame boring and stupid characters is all they have!
It took me 3 minutes to watch this one - fast forward through all the waste. Dogs just now met walkers? pu-leeze - more lame props
I had hopes they would do more with the beginnings but now the walkers are just a pathetic prop for characters I only want dead in the most painful and degrading way possible....every last one of them.

(56,829 posts)When you watched the original show, you cared about Rick, Morgan and his son from the very beginning. Then, with the second episode, you cared about Rick's family, Carol & Sofia (with the abusive Ed), Glenn, T-Dog, Amy, Andrea, Jim, etc.
With this show, I don't really care about anybody. I liked Ruben Blades' character when he was first introduced, but then he lost me when it turned out his was a death squad torturer.

(178 posts)With TWD, there are several characters I would hate to see get killed/eaten. But with FTWD, I could not care less if the same happened to any character, in fact, I would applaud.

(56,829 posts)but, i was moved when Andrea had to kill her sister Amy, or when the group left Jim to kill himself. When Morgan couldn't pull the trigger to kill his wife, I felt for him. I cheered when Carol's abusive husband got bitten. And, when Dale died and Hershel as well. There is nobody on Fear that would move me if they died.

(46,757 posts)I wondered where the mom who had the bat got her roots touched up.
Putting that aside, I'm willing to give this show another season. I truly believe that they are going to get it together and start a movement that will eventually reach Atlanta.

(1,681 posts)I'm rooting for the zombies from here on out. Every male on this show is completely broken. The old man was the only badass they had. Don't like how he went out.
The female Mexican leader looks tough as nails though. Pretty too.

(56,829 posts)but, he lost me when it was revealed he was a death squad torturer. Hard for me to sympathize with him then. Same with Nick - I've never taken drugs, so it's hard for me to sympathize with a junkie, even though I'd support him getting treatment over going to jail if it were real life and not TV.

(16,386 posts)Plus, I feel like the producers are going waaaay more gory than the WD. It's kind of gore for gore's sake. I'm really trying but just not feelin' it yet.

(12,047 posts)These idiots still waltz around blathering about their FEELINGS, it's one boring scene after another, just a soap opera. A soap opera with ZERO DRAMA just more and more stupidity.
When the woman slits the ones throat so they can cover themselves in blood, (again - same tired plot prop) it doesn't even try to bite them. Pathetic, don't want to interrupt their long boring conversation in a yard stuffed with walkers with any action.
And the walkers aren't a much of a threat at all, a minor nuisance at most - a weak prop at best - shouldn't they be moving faster, not slower since they're 'fresher'?
