I'm watching it again because it's obvious I missed a lot.

Here's the answer: "I'm not sure whether Joffrey suspects the truth about his background – but he does know his father, King Robert, produced illegitimate children, and in this first episode he orders a Herod-like slaughter of possible heirs."

Remember the prostitute that Ned visited in season one, the young girl who professed her love for Robert and said he was the only one she had ever been with and thus she knew the child for sure was Roberts? And then Ned told her that the child will be taken care of, financially, for her whole life?

That's the baby.

Joffrey and or Cersei is hunting down Robert's bastard children who may one day try to take the throne.

Or the baby that they're looking for?

By my count they drowned a young boy, took another baby and are after a grown young man who is traveling with Ayra Stark, or whatever her name is. Maise.

Robert had lots and lots of bastard children. One of them was the apprentice at the foundry, the young man Gendry, remember Ned went and spoke with him too? He's the one on the cart with Arya on their way north to The Wall.

That was pretty tough too. I doubt it will be any less violent this season.

But the story and film making is excellent, stick with it and fast forward through the difficult scenes if you can.
