WHY do I hear over and over the word "you" especially in "thank you", traditionally pronounced "yew" --- now becomes "thank yewuh" - almost 2 syllables??????
"Where it's at" also drives me nuts - but that is apparently standard now.
Thanks for letting me vent my grammar hangups.

(1,965 posts)When teenagers I'd often hear the oldest bellowing at her younger sister NO-UH. It irked me to no end. Finally I asked her who the hell is this NOAH you're always hollering for? Call him on the phone and quit hollering.

(7,572 posts)Texas has it's own peculiarities in speaking - I admit! Those in the Panhandle warsh their clothes, then rench them, everybody is y'all (everywhere in Texas), we all Anglicize pronunciation of cities and streets with Spanish names, even though we have a large Latino population and history. I could go on and on.
