In just three short months, Doctor Strange will be released in theaters. Marvel fans, and superhero fans in general, have been waiting a long time for the film, which promises to show a dark-fantasy side of Marvel theyve only barely touched with the Thor movies.
After an exciting Comic-Con trailer, Doctor Strange has quickly become the talk of the town, with the majority of comic book fans excited to see what director Scott Derickson has in store for us. Of course, theres one comic book mega-fan who doesnt have to wait until November to know how the movie is- Stan Lee!
The very face of Marvel himself was at Fan Expo Canada this weekend, promoting the future of Marvel entertainment with a fan Q&A. When asked about the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, Lee had nothing but kind words for the film and its director.
Stan Lee told fans that he believes in Scott Derricksons film, saying he thinks he did Doctor Strange right. He should know after all, Stan Lee spent most of his lifetime transforming Marvel into the powerhouse it is today. If anyone knows if a character is being done justice, its the person who helped create the character in the first place!
Of course, the verdict is still out on whether or not Doctor Strange will Marvels game changer, or if it will crash and burn. Given Marvels impressive film record when it comes to movies, it will most likely be the the former. But well all know for sure when Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4, 2016.

(9,527 posts)Marvel does have a pretty good track record, although I'm not a fan of several of their movies, I'm in the minority. But Stan Lee isn't going to say that a Marvel movie sucks.

the movie did get criticized for whitewashing - the character played by Tilda Swinton was Tibetan in the comics.
Of course, if they put in a character from Tibet in the movie, they risk being shut out of the Chinese market due to political tensions. And, if they put in a non-Tibetan Asian character, they look like they're kowtowing to the Chinese market and Chinese censors.

(1,681 posts)The Chinese market is too lucrative to annoy & risk getting shut out of. I personally don't care either way. Just play the role well.
