1. Shin Godzilla Becomes Japan's Most Attended Godzilla Film in 50 Years

http://www.scified.com/news/shin-godzilla-becomes-japans-most-attended-godzilla-film-in-50-years

Cinema Today has reported that Shin Godzilla has surpassed 4.2 million in attendance. Originally projected to finish with 3.0-3.3 million, the film has now surpassed Japan's numbers for the Legendary film, the Millennium series (1999-2004) and the Heisei series (1984-1995).

The last Godzilla film to hit an attendance as high as 4.2 million was Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992). The movie's 24 year old record has now been broken and Shin Godzilla has sold the most tickets in the series since 1966's Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, with an attendance of 4.21 million. That makes the new film the most attended Godzilla film since the Golden Age of Japanese Cinema where attendance numbers were usually a bit higher than what is seen today in Japan's more competitive and TV savvy market.

Shin Godzilla's attendance of 4.208 million places its current gross at 6.1 Billion Yen. (An estimated $59.5 Million USD.) One of the most successful movies of the year, it is currently the #5 highest grossing film of 2016 in Japan and the #1 highest grossing live action Japanese film of the year. The only live action film to top it is a Hollywood production--Star Wars: The Force Awakens; the other three top five films are animated. (Animated films are usually the biggest competition in Japan.) Shin Godzilla is expected to finish its run around $70-$75 Million USD.

He's back!!!

Seriously - this is a movie franchise!

"Queen of the Monsters" would create all kinds of problems - "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"

well, I guess that isn't definitive proof of anything either.

All I'm saying is if I was single and met a lady shaped like that I would try to get her to fall in love with me.

Whether she had a tail or not.

Kind of like changeable Klingon features - one of the epic mysteries of the universe.

But I've seen every Godzilla movie ever made and I really, really, want to see this one. Tell us about it when you get back, K?

beginning Oct 11th.

Luckily the (very few) theaters that are showing it have been recently updated and now include reserved seating that you can buy online well in advance (you can pick your seats!) and they have those big leather recliners. Love the movies now!

look at fandango.com and search for Shin Godzilla in your area code and you should find something...unless you're in the middle of nowhere...

I also often use the Fandango app on my phone to find movies in my area but I never buy tickets through them any more since they add a service fee. Just get the theater and show time from the app and then call the theater or go to the theater's own web-page and buy direct.

Godzilla and Rodan were locked in combat to the death. Meanwhile, from far away, the tiny twins held in a cage lifted their voices and summoned Mothra. Mothra sprayed Godzilla and Rodan with moth juice and then joined them to send Ghidorah packing.

Now Comet TV is showing "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero," with Nick Adams.

Spoiler alert: Monster Zero is Ghidorah.

Svengoolie is showing the pilot episode of "Star Trek."
