Walmart sells a fog machine that is much slender than older models. The tank is smaller, but the main problem with it, is that it doesn't have an outlet to plug in a fog machine timer. That timer is critical if you want to have a caulderon effect throughout the evening without baby sitting the machine.
So, A) Is there something out there that will work remotely?
or
B), What is Walmart's return policy? Will they take it back even after I tested it?

(90,775 posts)using a candle, a soup can, an aluminum pie pan, and a portion of a 2 liter plastic bottle.
You'll have to replenish the "fog juice" every 1/2 hour or so though.
If you like, PM me for instructions.
You place your DIY fog trap inside a real pumpkin or a fake one (though it could melt some on the bottom) - or maybe a cauldron. You can place an oven mitt under the can to absorb the heat and avoid the melting.

I do a lot of my props myself because I do big displays at Halloween and it is easier for me to make what I need.
My biggest year I built a maze in my yard, and the kids had to walk through the maze to the porch, passing scary scenes along the way. If they opted to not go through the maze they got suckers, and if they made it to the door they got big bars of chocolate. Most went through the maze.
This year we are being zombies and to get candy people will have to stick their hands inside a box painted black with a plastic sleeve on the side to reach inside for candy.
I'll do fog and other scary scenes, with floating dead people, body bags strewn about stuffed with old clothing and taped to look like actual bodies. Got a large flower pot I'm using to put bloody body parts in, and I'll be using some homemade fog to swirl around the pot.
I'll use webs, of course, with bloody bones trapped within.
We'll be actively walking about for most of the time.
The primary scene will be material draped over a PVC shell of a square to create an abandoned house effect, with light on the inside casting shadows against the material. I'll use people/monster shaped cardboard with horns and tails to cast the shadows. A tape will be running inside of people screaming and the sound of a blade running. Legs, just the legs, will be sticking out of the opening, all sliced and diced and bloody.
That will be close to the box of candy. The candy will be chocolate, all chocolate.
We should be finished tomorrow and will run the display from then on. Live characters on the night of, of course.

(46,744 posts)I want to go to your house!
I do my best, but Halloween around here is not anything like the ones we had back home. People are very protective of their territories so we only get the people from the houses close by. I get so disappointed when it ends by 8:30 pm. Only for a few years we had some high school age kids come around late at night, but this area must not have given them a good reception in the past, because they come no more. Still, it's a good haul of kids. Around 40 to 60.
