The most amazing and uplifting obituary

I have ever seen.

Stephen Pelafas - Born September 20, 1953. My parents Steve and Mary Jo Pelafas, and younger brother Deanos were the best. I am survived by my three children Nicholas Gustavus, Joanna Catherine, and Aric Ascot, and longtime companion Ann Delporte.

The Embassy Tavern & Grill occupied a number of years of my life as an owner and operator. My fondest memories are those of the wonderful people over the years - best job I ever had.

I enjoyed travel - in particular abroad. All the world was a bit more civil in those times. I also enjoyed reading, mostly subject matter regarding history, the sport of fishing, and expanding on my culinary skills. My favorite foods were Mediterranean and Southwestern. I disliked the term politically correct - good, bad, right, wrong, truly a state of moral consciousness; what's politics got to do with it?

I want to take a moment to wish all friends, family, and mankind the best of luck and the best in life. There will be no public memorial service.

So on that note, farewell - I will catch you on the flip side,

Stephen

I knew this guy. He was a friend of my late big brother as far back as I can remember. When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to be just like the both of them.

Steve was there for me, anytime, when my brother passed, as much or more than any family member. Every time I watch Anthony Bourdain, I am reminded of Steve. The way he spoke. His mannerisms. To me, except for the writing, he was Anthony Bourdain before I ever heard of Anthony Bourdain. Though he probably drank way too heavily, he was mostly a connoisseur of the finer liquors. Not so much the Chivas, but the really expensive, smooth as glass stuff. Everytime I visited Steve he had some new bottle he'd insist I just had to at least have a sip of.

He loved to cook and could have been a chef. He'd pick up recipes and prep techniques during his travels to Greece, Spain, Italy, the UK. Even Canada and Central and South American countries. The last 20 years he was always either just returning from or preparing to leave on some exotic trip. He was always cooking up some new dish and inviting friends over. He always invited me and now I sorely regret that I didn't always go.

He could and did speak for hours on end of his adventures on his trips abroad, keeping his audience captivated and entranced.

I love you Steve and I'll always miss you as much as I miss Greg. Where ever you are, I hope you and Greg find each other. Party on dude!

How lucky you were to have him and your brother in your life. They both sound like amazing fellows. So sorry for your loss.
