I wish I could conjure such things with my ordinary imagination. I'd be a rich screenplay writer or a movie director. I've learned that these dreams come from a place in us that is much deeper and is not totally our own. I treasure them when they happen and write them down to the best of my memory as soon as I awaken from them.
Yeah, I sleep weird hours, especially on my days off. I ordinarily work from about 4pm to anywhere from 2am to 4am. I'm off tonight and I laid down for a nap at about 7pm eastern. I'm glad I did because that was a wonderful dream.

(10,418 posts)I was on an island in the Ohio River. It was an old family vacation spot that we went to when I was a kid. Im there with my step-dad and mom and sisters. My step-dad is next to the water and he is trying to fix one of my sisters boat. I decide to try to help him, but I fall into the water. The water drops off almost immediately to a depth thats way over my head. My step-dad tries to help me, but it is too late. The current is strong and Im swept away from shore and down the river. I am in the depths, over my head in water. Then I manage to get to the surface where I can breathe, but I keep getting swept downstream and I have no control in the water about where Im going.
I black out, then some time later wash up on a beach of the river. I see a magnificent bridge over the river and think that I must have been swept down to the next town. The river is also much larger, more like a bay. Then I realize that Im not in my homeland anymore. I am in Germany, home to some of my ancestors. I look at my body and find that Im much thinner now than I had been.
I see a large building thats every bit as magnificent as the bridge and I go up a large stairway like the steps to our capitol building to the entrance. When I go in I find myself in a dimly lit room. There are images of words there describing things that I must know to go on a quest. I tell them that I know all of these things in whole or in part due to my readings on the matter.
And that's about all that I feel comfortable posting.

(3,324 posts)I would not be surprised if many of us are having unusual dreams these days. Mine have been mostly very vivid and with clear themes that points to current state of affairs in trumpistan.

(4,447 posts)I dreamed that Trump had a heart attack and almost died. When he came to, he'd had a near death experience in which he'd gone to hell. He was completely transformed, fired his staff and cabinet en masse, and declared a compassionate, progressive agenda. It sucked waking up from that one.

(41,205 posts)I've had three dreams about the Unspeakable since the election: (1) He was the Devil and was trying to toss me into a volcano; (2) He turned himself into a bear and was trying to catch me and eat me; (3) He was some sort of evil rodent hiding in a burrow in a local park.
On a much gentler note, I had a dream that I composed what seemed in my dream to be the deathless piece of verse:
'Shall we have lunch?
Lunch would be nice.
If you hesitate,
We will have to think twice.'
At least better than the time many years ago when I composed in a dream a poem which seemed beautiful and profound, but when I woke up, all I could remember of it was the line: 'Oh fuck! I've let my mother down today!'

(16,334 posts)the "office" was the publisher's parent's house, an old home surrounded by beautiful gardens. We worked outside and it was a beautiful day. But I wasn't being given an assignment. I was told to meditate in the garden instead. Others seem to be working by sitting on benches or chairs and writing on note pads. I went into the house and discovered three bodies in bed on the third floor. They were each in a twin bed, looked to be very old, wearing dressing gowns. There was no smell. I went outside again and asked the publisher what the hell was going on and he said they were his parents and his aunt and that was what they always wanted. To be preserved and left in the house. I asked "Shouldn't we be writing about THAT?" And he said go meditate and wait until I give you something to write about.

(3,818 posts)Such a symbolic dream, sounds like your subconscious has something really important messages for you. Might I recommend the book, Dreams: Your Magic Mirror, by Elise Sechrist. I read it years ago and it was very helpful in showing me how to interpret dreams. Also interesting are the books on lucid dreaming by Stephen LaBerge.

(10,418 posts)I know a little about dream interpretation. I've been reading Jungian psychologists for a while now. That's why I started a dream journal. Every dream I've remembered since late last September has been written down. I understand the significance of bodies of water in dreams, bridges, and buildings. I will check out your suggestions.
