(53,339 posts)It's a short walk to the neighborhood Mexican restaurant, a family-run hole-in-the wall place. So you know there will be some friending going on. Plus chips and salsa and queso with chiles.

(3,040 posts)I had some velveeta and ro tel queso dip left over, so I added to it some light cream, cream cheese, freshly grated parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce and onion powder to some elbows. It was delicious!

(14,275 posts)We mixed shredded cabbage with Wondra flour, eggs, and mixed seafood. Fried it up like a pancake. My wife topped hers with mayonnaise, Hiroshima sauce and bonito flakes. I topped mine with Shirachi sauce and mayo.
Very low calorie.

(14,275 posts)My wife's late aunt used to have an okanamiyaki restaurant in Hiroshima. My wife learned to make it way back when she was a teenager. A few years ago we stopped being purists and began adapting the available ingredients where we lived.
Sometimes we mix it with pork. Other times shrimp. Usually green onion goes in too.

(25,615 posts)The great thing about oden is that it lasts so long, don't have to cook for days. It's supposed to snow tomorrow, good to have something piping hot.
Also made a blueberry cake, but used so many berries that it was soggy, in the oven for a hell of a long time until it seemed to be done. I renamed it blueberry pudding.
