I got a new pair of waterproof farm boots. Hey--I'm thrilled, I really need them. Although it would have been more romantic if there were roses in them.

(12,132 posts)A big one. On Saturday. Because everything good was booked already for Tuesday.
But Daaaaammmmnnnnn this steak was good.
We actually had reservations at Del Frisco's and were in the car pulling out of the driveway to go eat there and she said "Can we go to Linda's La Cantina instead?" LLC has been a steakhouse here for 40~50, maybe 60 years and neither of us had ever been but a lot of people we know have been and said it was good. She said she just thought all of the sudden that LLC was where her parents always went for special occasions and she wanted to see what it was like.
So of course I said "whatever you want, honey". I had always wanted to go there too and either way I'm getting a steak so no reason not to go to LLC. So we call DF and cancel that reservation and call LLC while on the way over there. As luck would have it they were booked solid and not taking any new reservations but we were free to come and wait for an opening. We had no other place to be (now that we had canceled Del Friscos) and they had one of those old-timey steak house bars with plenty of seats to wait so we grabbed some drinks, crushed some candy and an hour later got a table.
I got a 12oz filet cooked perfectly medium. SO tender and deliciously seared I wished I had another stomach so I could get another one and keep eating. First steak dinner in years I can remember where I didn't have room for dessert.
All I know is if we had eaten there before we would have already been there many many times. I'm kicking myself fo rskipping them all these years. We'll be back.
Then on Vday morning I picked up the candy and stuffed bear basket I had ordered and went to her work to pretend to be the delivery guy (well, she'd know I wasn't but all her co-workers wouldn't have known) and see if I could get an extra smooch to freak out her co-workers. "OMG Mrs OG is kissing the delivery guy!". I thought it would be funny. Then she could keep the bear and share the candy. (she's not a huge candy fan but she LUUUURVES stuffed bears) So I get to the lobby and find a phone to call back (it's a call center so they aren't set up for regular visitors from the public) and I say I have a delivery for Mrs OG and the lady says OK one moment. Several moments go by and the lady who answered the phone came out and said "I'm so sorry, she's gone home for the day - can you deliver it to her house?" And I said yeah, I could do that and laughed and she must have recognized me after all because she said "Ohhh Wait, Your the HUSBAND aren't you?" And I said yeah and she said "Ohh that's so sweet!" and I said yeah just be sure to tell her how sweet I am when she comes in next...
And I figured I'd just take the basket to work and bring it home that night but I was a little put out I didn't get to do the delivery man ruse. On my way from her work to mine she texts me "Where's your truck?" and I text (at a red light) "Under my butt" and she said "huh?" and I said "Under my butt because I'm driving form this delivery I was trying to make but the lady who was supposed to be there was gone home for the day" and she said "Huh?!" and I said "You! I was bringing you a present" and she said Oh well come to work because I'm here to give YOU a present and you're not here!" so I went and gave her the basket and got a neat stained glass window hanging thing with the FSU logo on it and some smooches in the parking lot which wasn;t quite as good as freaking out her co-workers but still pretty good.
