Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHorrible winds hitting Flint, MI, today.
Gusts in excess of 60 mph are being reported. I heard a loud, frightening thump on the side of my house so I went out to investigate. I didn't find any damage, but the winds sound like a 747 is about to land in my back yard.
There are almost 70 weather related 911 reports, right now and the Consumer's Energy outage page isn't even reporting, right now, probably because it is so overwhelmed.
On the bright side, at least the sun is out.
Hoping for some good thoughts. My fingers crossed I get through this without losing power. Or trees.

(26,275 posts)I just checked Flint Bishop Airport, and their flights are all listed as 'on time'. That's kind of surprising.

(36,865 posts)It is pretty bad here, as well. I keep looking at the large tree outside my window.

(26,275 posts)Windy weather scares me, the most. I have a big maple tree in my back yard. So far, I'm just losing dead branches. I think that since the tree is still bare, the wind resistance won't be an issue. Fingers crossed.

(36,865 posts)I didn't know a car door could do so much damage!
I'm charging up all of my electronics, just in case.
Fingers crossed, indeed!

(26,275 posts)I'm still wondering what it was I heard. I thought that maybe the wind blew off the chimney cap, again. Fortunately, that wasn't the case. If the power DOES go out, I'll need that fireplace to stay warm!

(26,275 posts)I wonder if the reason my part of the county is still spared is, after the ice storm knocked out power in my area, for a week, the utility company had to do so much clean up, repair and replacement, the lines and poles are just a little more secure. Hopefully I will stay out of the dark, but we are going to double check the generator, just in case.
This is just a 3 county area - Genesee, Shiawassee and Oakland.
