For the past few months, I have constantly had that weird feeling of a hair tickling my tongue, and no matter what I do, I can't get it to slide forward where I can get my fingers on it and pull it out. It won't move. When I look into my mouth in a mirror, I see something that could be a hair, going all the way up to the roof, but I can't get hold of it. It's maddening!! Has anybody else had something like this? Is it even possible? How do I get rid of this thing??

When in doubt check it out.

(62,444 posts)it just doesn't.
If there is something unusual growing or embedded in the roof of your mouth which is not coming out on its own the "what else could it be" is the reason why people go to medical school.

This is something that could be very serious and you need to go to a Doctor as soon as possible.

(2,176 posts)I got a bad Infection and was taking medication for it. I developed a hairy tongue. I don't remember if it was the medicine or the infection. Good news it went away.

(5,683 posts)calcified stapes in my right ear which is the reason I've been half deaf for 15 years. In the process the ENT has to disturb a nerve which supports taste sensations of the tongue. I have had the weirdest taste sensations especially on the right side of my tongue ever since. They say it can take weeks, months, years to correct itself. Lately though, I keep thinking I can feel a tiny hair on the right tip of my tongue. Try to remove it- it's not there. I've been choosing to believe it's a sign of improvement in my case, but I think you should get it checked out. By the way- I got my hearing BACK!!!
