my wife laughed at me because I've been a PC guy since the 80s and an Android guy since the advent of smart phones.
And that's the story of how my wife almost got to keep a macbook air I won.

(17,320 posts)I am a PC guy as well, and I don't mean politically correct either. Well, not all of the time.
Macs just never seemed intuitive to me. I was forced to work on one at work for almost two years and it never grew on me. I always cursed it.

I work in graphics though and Macs are a little smoother in that area.

Better choice than "rectangular marquee tool" or "polygon lasso tool."

I just know the basics of photo processing. None of the fancy stuff like 'shopping one image into another.

(53,843 posts)i had a whole reply typed then did something with the track pad and it disappeared lol...it feels nice but I'm still getting used to it. I'd like to do some graphics on it but it may be too small. I used to have a wacom bambu but I really want a tablet I can draw on.

(12,132 posts)My wife was always frustrated with me because I wouldn't provide her tech support whenever she had iPads or iPhones. I told her every time she bought one I didn't know nothing about them and didn't want to but her friends all had them and she had to have them too. She finally traded her iPhone in for a Galaxy S7 edge which I love as I can support that just fine (I have a Note 5) and then i bring home this thing.
It's a little bigger than my tablet (Galaxy Tab A lol) and I gotta admit it's fine feeling piece of machinery but stuff is all backwards. Maybe I'll keep it a bit and see what it can do but I'll end up giving it to her anyway because what I really want is a tablet I can draw on. Draw my own drawings. See if I can win something else.
(I was at a trade show that I go to most years but this is the first time I ever won anything good at a vendor booth)

(17,320 posts)My wife is a Mac devotee as well. She has the latest iPhone and the iWatch (whatever it's called). They're synced up and her every move and breath is tracked throughout the day and night. That's far too intrusive for me, and I'm kind of clued-in that I'm leaving traces everywhere I go on the Internet and my GPS function on my phone means my whereabouts can be monitored, at least when it's turned on.
I use a Galaxy S4. Have had it for two years and it's served me well. I don't need the latest and greatest gadgets. Hell, I only make use of a tiny fraction of what the S4 offers.

(6,646 posts)Give it a chance and I think you will grow to love it. Yes, it is a bit different on the learning curve - took me a while to get used to it. Now I have an MacBook air, iPad and iPhone. Not going back now.

(12,132 posts)I keep trying to touch the screen. Even reaching over a keyboard doesn't clue me in that there is no touch screen. Bu tthat's not mac's fault lol. That's all my dumbery.

(4,492 posts)I'm a PC/Android girl. I used a Macbook for about 6 months and could not wait to go back to a PC. I don't like Apple's system.

(12,132 posts)they don't make this one any more but refurbed ones online are around 600~700 bucks. This is brand new until I opened it up day before yesterday. All I've done on it is play Fishdom. And downloaded some free graphics programs from the apple store.
I do kinda want to see what it's all about but on the other hand I have a cruise in April next year that I need to pay off by January...
