But after extreme drought hit southern parts of India, this 12-foot King cobra found its way to a local village in attempt to get some water and the locals put aside their fear and replaced it with compassion.

(50,562 posts)A scorpion approached a frog near the bank of a wide river.
"Mr. Frog," said the scorpion, "I must get to the other side of the river. If you give me a ride on your back, I will give you a nice reward when we get there."
"Why should I believe you?" asked the frog. "You'll just sting me in the middle of the river, and I'll drown."
"Nonsense," replied the scorpion. "If I did that I'd drown too."
Satisfied with this answer, the frog let the scorpion on his back. He jumped into the river, swam about ten feet offshore...and dove straight to the bottom!
"Why the hell did you do that?" screamed the scorpion. "Now I will surely drown!"
The frog yelled back, "Do you think I don't know you're still a scorpion?"
The moral of this story is, When someone tells you who they are - believe them.

I'm glad they gave it some water and took it to an animal shelter instead of killing it.
I noticed that it folded up its hood when they gave it the water. Cobras open their hoods when they feel threatened in order to look bigger. When the man offered it water it apparently didn't feel threatened any more.

So an adult cobra can stand up 6 feet and stare a man in the eye before delivering its deadly bite
