We have them all over the place, people, hoses and cattle often break legs and such by accidentally stepping in burrow holes. Got two of them out on the property, at least they aren't in the pasture.

Animals are a marvel! Primarily because human arrogance never credits them properly. By that I mean we are often amazed at their resolve and brilliance. The animal itself is not. They know what they are capable of; it is us, the higher order, that is surprised.

We are all in the circle.

I would think the odor would alert other scavengers to the carcass at some point.
Besides it seems like much more than one badger could eat.
