A fine timpanist there for years, but for my taste a bit too.. nice.:&gt

The percussionists in this great orchestra are super musicians...well the entire orchestra is superb...

One of the great 'timpani moments,' in the orchestral repertoire, at least in my opinion, is right at the big A7 chord at 40:19, then it repeats at 40:30.

New Principal Timpanist is Tomohiro Ando. Nick Woud is the other a timpanist there.

(Actually, I was in the Concertgebouw about 6 weeks ago for a concert.) Glorious sound, of course !)

Check out this short clip from the Berlin Philharmonic with Rattle. --Who BTW is a percussionist.:&gt )))
Timpanist is Wielend Welzel.. for me the greatest alive.. Listen to and watch what he does, especially on that glorious A7 chord maybe at 1:28.!! He plays the part totally differently...dynamics and phrasing, etc....He just kills it man...NO PRISONERS !!

THANK YOU, for the post....
