Dogs - Gotta love them

Reminds me of the Lake Wobegon , Garrison Keller's, story of the guys wanting to go ice fishing on a frozen lake and using dynamite to open a clearing. They threw out a stick of dynamite and the faithful dog retrieved it and returned it to their truck sitting on the frozen lake. The guys dive out of the truck, dog follows them, dynamite explodes and the truck disappears under the ice..
