She does not understand basic concepts. She is either a bad actress or a very uneducated person.

(25,383 posts)TWC installed a "new" modem that was teaming with roaches.
Then they told us that someone was stealing our internet...It never made sense to me.
maybe the roaches were stealing it?

(25,383 posts)We had to bag that thing and put it in our freezer.
Some had escaped and we were afraid that we would be infested.
They gave us another modem, but that didn't work either.
After that they paid us another service call and said someone was climbing the telephone pole, splicing wires and stealing internet.
I didn't believe it for a minute.

(16,334 posts)this is back when they would send somebody to your home to take a look at the problem. He went to his truck and came back with a box of cables. He tried them all and determined they ALL must be bad and he didn't have any more. I'd have to schedule another appointment.

(3,762 posts)to look into windows and see what ip address Windows had "put" in my computer. I forget the details
but her response was I had to call Microsoft to get that ip removed.
I asked her why my two Linux machines had no internet either. The 3rd person I talked to noticed there was
no traffic at all in my neighborhood. Things mysteriously started working.

(2,097 posts)I was having problems with not getting the internet to connect inside the house. I could get it to connect on the front porch or in the yard. The "technician" on the phone, after exhausting all of the over the phone fixes ideas that he had, suggested that was the way I would have to use my computer.
Outside. In the yard. All the time.
Thanks Verizon.
That does not surprise me. I knew a lady who had to go outside to use her cell phone. I asked why she kept the provider and she said it was the only place she had any trouble.

(2,097 posts)I talked to his supervisor and they sent someone out to the house to replace equipment. Amazing! It works now!
Seriously? Outside? I live in the midwest, hotter than Hades in the summer, snow up to your earlobes in the winter, rain, bugs, wind. I asked him, think about all the things you do on your computer, pay bills, homework, would you want to do them exclusively outside? I mean, honestly. Outside. I'm still flabbergasted by that conversation.
