(9,265 posts)Followed by A Hard Day's Night (UK). Of course I love everything of theirs but an especially fond of their "mid-early" period. Takes me back to when I was a little kid.

(13,587 posts)songs are on each. I can't look and pick the best right now. Pretty close call anyway.

(5,477 posts)but there were so MANY others that could have been chosen - Beatles '65, Revolver, Beatles For Sale, A Hard Day's Night, Beatles VI, Abbey Road...

(2,959 posts)bought all their subsequent albums as the were released.
I like their raw sound way more than the processed, multitracked or as Lennon said repeatedly in later interviews "that dead, Beatle sound."

(1,257 posts)Especially when you are old like me! Born in 1954.
It gets totally confusing.
When I first got the CD boxed set, I digitized it all, and rearranged the tracks and albums to correspond to my undeniable US release memories.
Fortunately, there was a web reference for this, to aid my aging memory.
The British releases were hurting my brain's memory!
The whole real story is more complicated, but I won't bore you all with the details.

(9,729 posts)We wore out two LP's listening to it. I still love it, even after all these years.

(27,804 posts)They did things on that album that had never even been dreamed of before.
"A Day in the Life" could be their best song ever, imo
(I also love Abbey Road)

(9,729 posts)I'd love to tur-ur-ur-n you-ou-ou o-o-o-on..." And then that amazing long bit of music like nothing else before or since. Abbey Road is my "cheer up" go-to album if I'm ever feeling down and out. You can't possibly listen to "she came in through the bathroom window" and not laugh.
