The only theater I can find with seats is for 11:20 p.m. and I have to be at work by 6:30 a.m. tomorrow so that's not gonna work. Guess we'll go tomorrow when I get off.

(16,383 posts)I think something is wrong with the site; it doesn't seem right that I can't find tickets for any theater at any time.

I have been fascinated by Dunkirk since watching the old film Mrs. Miniver. If you haven't seen the film it is awesome.

That's the first movie that ever made me cry. And I'm not a crier.

(877 posts)Too expensive for tickets but since hubby and I are both 60+ we got "slightly" reduced tickets. That said, here are some observations:
1. I wish I had read up on the incident and the Battle before. Would have made a bit more sense to me
2. There was no character development. The plot was the character. Different and appreciate it more now that I reflect an hour later
3. It's really worth seeing it on the big screen. I react to sounds and the various sound effects were amazing. I could see this getting an Oscar for sound effects
4. Prepare to see lots of WWII veterans there. Reminded me of Saving Private Ryan
It was a good movie but not fantastic. Now that I've read up on it, when it comes on TV, I'll appreciate it more.

(6,457 posts)crossed the channel and picked up the stranded men on the beach and returned them home. As a woman I guess there was too many air fights, too many boats going down while to me the great story of Dunkirk was saving over 200 thousand stranded men on a French Beach with nowhere to hide and nowhere to go. A greater story could have been made.
