Ladies and gentlemen - I present the Crescent 56 nail puller.
It's big. It's ugly. It's heavy. But I've never found a nail it couldn't pull out of wood - and it does so with little damage.

That being said, he's right about the pinching - I raised a beauty of a blood blister using one when I was a kid. It was a short learning curve; I only did it once.
Back in the day, I used one often, but found they are lousy removing 'Sinker' nails, those hot glue coated nails they use today, and totally useless on pallet nails.

(38,317 posts)And I certainly agree, some of the modern nail designs are very difficult to pull out, which is a good thing in hurricanes and earthquakes.

(63,215 posts)I can usually get the job done with a pair of end nippers, but the trick is always the start. For a nail driven flush into wood, the removal does indeed tend to gouge things up a bit.
Pretty nifty.

It's only something you will WANT to do once, because it hurts like hell, and I have done it a few times
