Wall Drug also known as the Number One Tourist Attraction in America, is a 76,000 square foot mall of quirky western delights. I was particularly interested in the 5 cent coffee that was advertised in the numerous billboards along the way!

(8,632 posts)For the coffee, of course, then it was drinkable. I didn't try the donuts! What kind did you try? I'll have to do that next time. I definitely thought it was worth going back!

(34,661 posts)light dusting of Sugar. Fill the Travel Cup and half dozen donuts, next stop Sturgis or Spearfish.

(8,632 posts)We absolutely loved Spearfish. The waterfalls and the huge black cliffs were magnificent. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to check out Sturgis as we had a motel reservation we were overdue for in Rapid City. Is there anything worth checking out in Sturgis? I know about the big Harley convention they have there, but not much more.

(34,661 posts)towards south of town. Beautiful Forests and rock formations. Get out and hike up some of the Hills,so quite and the Pine smells are to die for. Listen for the Eagles. They never fail to appear. Then head down to Deadwood, and then over to Custer. We usually make this a day trip and as usual, stop in Keystone to pick up some swag. Pick up a Burger and a Cold one and head over to the Park and kick back. We have had Elk come browsing their way through to the Creek.
We will be there next year but not during Bike Week,to crazy for us.
Another neat day trip is,head over to Castle Rock in Wyoming. Fun to watch Guy's and Gal's Free Hand climb that sucker.

(8,632 posts)When you're stuck in an urban jungle 48 weeks of the year like my wife and I are, enjoying the natural beauty you describe is the only antidote. Plus we love the old frontier towns like Deadwood! Definitely great ideas for kicking back and enjoying life. Thanks for the advice! Love your name, btw. If only he were President now.

(34,661 posts)not Castle Rock, which is south of Denver. Duh,old age and decreasing Memory. Deadwood is a real Hoot, talk about History with a Tourist Twist.
If your headed back to Rapid via the back road thru Keystone, stop at Prairie Winery and pick up a bottle or two of their Red Ass Peach Wine. Stop at the Hy Vee in Rapid and hit the Cheese Case and then head to the Park for some real down time.

(8,632 posts)One of our highlights of the road trip. This is our video!
We also loved Prairie Berry Winery, but we are still editing our video of that. Should be ready next week!

(8,632 posts)Usually, if I have a choice, I love having pumpkin pie with coffee. What kind did you have? I wasn't too hungry, so I just had coffee this time.
