The ones I've tried have been too sweet for my taste.

(45,488 posts)Everyone has been bringing Pumpkin beers in the last few years, but only a few really pull it off. They are usually over-spiced, hamfisted, or cloyingly sweet. There are a few goods ones, but can't remember any at the moment besides Starr Hill's Boxcar, a pumpkin porter.

Stout and porter for me, too. Or a good Czech Pilsner or an India Pale Ale.
Yummy!!!

(16,862 posts)I'm not usually a fan of "themed beers" but I fell in love with Pumpkinhead the first fall I lived in New England. It's not terribly sweet and retains the spicyness one would expect from pumpkin, but if you get a pint in a pub, they will usually serve it in a pint glass with a brown sugar rim, which obviously adds a level of sweetness. Sadly, it's hard to find outside of the Northeast, unless you're going to a specialty beer shop that can order it.
