(16 posts)We watch it every thanksgiving day while slaving in the kitchen. The first time I had it on, my boys, 13 at the time, walked in during the final battle scene and when the cops show up as everyone is getting arrested, the boys were like "wait a minute, this doesn't make sense," and they were hooked. They are partial to "The Meaning of Life" but Holy Grail is what got me into Python.
It took me a long time to figure out that kenniggut, was the phonetic pronunciation of knight. Decades, actually, my husband still laughs about that.

(22,270 posts)I know three young men who memorized all the parts, and any two of them could act out the sketch on demand!!
They were probably 13 or so when they started performing it at church youth parties.
They are now all 35, and one of them has two children. I am certain they will carry on the Python tradition when they reach their teens.
My daughter, who is two years younger, is also a fan. She asked for Holy Grail for her birthday when she was 14. Gotta love it.

(12,132 posts)my friend and I did the Undertaker sketch. We didn't win because the teachers running the show thought it was tasteless but the students loved it.
"Not raw, not raw! She'll be delicious with a few french fries...a bit of broccoli..."
Coincidentally, it was at a church-run private school in Texas... I'm surprised we got to perform it at all..lol.
Some years back, my daughter tearily announced the death of her Quaker Parrot with "He's joined the choir invisible..." MP honestly helped her through that difficult time.
