(50,559 posts)That bedroom gives off the aura of "if Barbie and Cinderella were sisters, this is exactly the room they'd have."
If you had a little girl who loved Disney princesses, that would be perfect for her.

(6,798 posts)I so wanted to make you happy. Pretty in Pink was my vision for you. I could see you in pink tulle, in your pink bathroom, your pink lips smiling as you sipped your glass of pink Pepto Bismol. I like the idea of a gold toilet. Are you related to Donald Trump. Don't disappoint me. 😆

(27,120 posts)But no, at least, not to my knowledge!
I do know someone who attended an event at his house (long before he ran for president) and verified that yes, the toilet was indeed gold, or looked gold anyway.
She also mentioned he was a big jerk. No surprise there.....

(1,151 posts)It was before I had a smartphone, when we were looking for our first house. If I'd had a smart phone, I would have taken so many pictures because words truly cannot describe how much this place burned one's retinas with its tackiness. The agent kept telling us that "it was all cosmetic" and to look past it to the bones of the place.
But beyond the owner's horrible furniture and tacky-ass knick-knacks (think clowns, stuffed geese and teddy bears in costumes, and crystal god-knows-what on EVERY available surface), she'd done so much that would have to be replaced. The hot pink, white or turquoise shag carpet in every room, all the banisters replaced with brass straight out of an 80s strip club, the garish, bas relief tile in the bathrooms, the hot pink and gold bathtub, the floor-to-ceiling built-in mirrored shelving (to display all those collections), the horrendous, flouncy cabinets, scalloped countertops, pink, gold and turquoise backsplash and mosaic kitchen sink. Technically I guess you could call it cosmetic, but it would have cost easily $50,000 to replace all that with finishes I could stand looking at every day.
At least the pointy-boobed mermaid would make me laugh every day.

(27,120 posts)It's simply a third nipple, because mermaids hatch from eggs and don't have umbilical cords?

(34,136 posts)Each one was a different color - pink, blue, green, lavender, and aqua. The lavender bathroom was the only one they changed since the tile was set into a cement backing and would have been almost impossible to remove for a reasonable amount. For the lavender bathroom, they painted the tub and wall tile white with an epoxy paint. They tore out the lavender toilet and sink and replaced with white ones. The three boys that had to use that bathroom until they left for college really appreciated the change!
My Mom's house is similar - the master bath is blue, the "girl's" bath is pink, and the upstairs "boy's" bath is harvest gold. The worst is the tacky guest half bath - it has ornate brass fixtures that are hard to clean and a brass color decorative band around the sink. Again, they were really well made with everything set in a cement base. The only things that have been replaced were the toilets since the originals had non-standard parts and replacements have been impossible to find for at least thirty years.
