Finally - something to distract me from the trump* disaster. My sump pump has DIED

And it has died at the rare time when anyone I can count on to help me install a new one, is out of town, and just as we are expecting a significant amount of rainfall.

On the plus side, I already have a replacement pump, so that will SLIGHTLY mitigate the cost of bringing in a 'professional'.

It is at times like this that I really miss apartment life.

I had to bale out the sump crock to get the back up pump to disengage, and it was pretty mucky, by the time I got towards the bottom. I was probably too tired from toting buckets of water up the stairs, to even think beyond "GRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

Fortunately, they just bumped me up on the emergency call list, and the plumber is on his way!! Whoo HOO!!

After seeing election returns, I said, "I'm glad I've got a funeral to distract me from this"

But on a bright note, the bill for installing the sump pump, and replacing pretty much all of the connecting pipes, was less than half of what I was anticipating.

My sympathies about your father's death. When my mom and sister died, just 3 weeks apart, in 2015, I actually felt less stressed dealing with their funeral plans than I did by the horrible work situation I was in. I had been targeted by a vile, "born again" right wing narcissistic co worker, whose goal, in life, was to make my life a misery. I retired early to escape from the situation.

Just about the time I was shaking off that stress and coming to terms with losing so much of my family, trump* happened. So I'm, once again, being targeted (in a way) by a vile narcissist. It's like Groundhog's Day.

Next time I'll try for something a little less expensive. Although I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of this little emergency.

on Saturday, we had a water pipe leak. Before we discovered it, the kitchen, dining area, laundry room, hallway were covered in water. Thanks to good neighbors and the county, we were able to get the water turned off after about an additional 1/2 hour (no inside main turn off). Couldn't get a plumber to come to the house until the following Tuesday.

Ended up repiping the whole system to avoid another leak. Corrosive water caused pin sized hole in copper tubing. W/o water for 2 weeks.

Hope you've got your pump up and working again.

Good luck with your various pains in the ass. Maybe the next distraction will be an unexpected basket of adorable puppies.
