A guy in the Netherlands prepares fancy meals for his little hamster Lucy. (When one Lucy dies,

he gets another and names her Lucy, as well. You can see which number Lucy each picture shows if you check the URL on the picture.) He posts on his blog pictures of each Lucy enjoying her gourmet dinners, along with pictures and step-by-step instructions for preparing the dish for your hamster, if you happen to have one. He even has a book of hamster recipes!

The white Lucy (Lucy 2.0) often snatches her fancy food and drags it into her cage instead of eating it out in the open where he can photograph her enjoying her food. That is what she is up to in the last picture. I have visited his blog on and off for years. There are lots more cute pics on his website!

Caesar salad (Lucy 4):

Micro veggie pizza (Lucy 3):

Veggie hotdog:

Veggie tacos:

Spaghetti:

Apple sushi (Lucy 2):

Microburger:

Yogurt served in a cucumber bowl:

Banana split cake:

...whether providing a rich and diverse diet to hamsters results in smarter hamsters?

I bet so.

But, we had two hamsters in a cage.

One died and the other one started eating the dead one's head. My 8 year old daughter witnessed the entire thing.

It was about 30 years ago and the memory is still clear.

I can't be certain I wouldn't be doing the same in similar circumstances.

Best not put me hungry in a cage with dead people.

As a human being I'm pretty sure some of my ancestors survived some very rough situations by cannibalism. Same as most people.

I've been held in cages, but never hungry in a cage with dead people. My cage mates have always considered me an amicable fellow. The last to eat. There's a delicious ambiguity in those words.

He came downstairs and stated "Dream is dead and Swift is eating him!"
He's 31 now and seems to have recovered from that trauma.

I've had a mouse and a rat, but never a hamster. Franklin the mouse liked blueberries and Barnaby the rat was crazy for cheese - but I never went the gourmet route, LOL. Thanks for posting!
