But such an ephemeral medium!

Did you know that if you spray the inside of your carved pumpkin with Lysol, it will last much longer? The Lysol slows down the "getting moldy" process. Gotta spray the carved out surfaces, too, like the inside of the eyes and mouths.

I've been leaving mine whole, but now maybe I will try this.

The carvings are stunning. I agree about the ephemeral nature and the amount of work involved. All that will be left is the photo.

The Kansas City Art Institute is doing something similar to this to raise money for scholarships.
