I looked at the first couple paragraphs and found this:

The purpose of the government is to subordinate the whole of Ukraine to the exploitation of Western European and North American capital and to enforce this across the entire territory of Ukraine by fascist and police terror, until all resistance is crushed. The fascists are the backbone of the ongoing onslaught against the cities of Eastern and Southern Ukraine.

The independence of Ukraine from the stronger, Western, bloc of imperialist powers now rests with the resistance in the South and East. Pursuing its own interests, Russian imperialism poses as the friend of this resistance, but it is a false friend and a treacherous ally.

This is what I've sloppily been trying to say in various venues and folks are resistant. They want a good guy/bad guy scenario. As much as I love sports I wish that mentality wasn't becoming so prevalent. People can't just look at it, figure out both sides are imperialists looking out for their own interests (corporate profits) and to hell with the common people that get in the way. I look forward to reading the entire piece when I can sit down and go over every single word.

by the MSM. AND in a large part, it is what's happening because it IS a rivalry between the competing imperialisms. But that's not ALL there is to it. It's easy analysis to turn this into an us vs them situation, but one thing about the League's analysis all along is that they've attempted to find a way out for the Ukrainian PEOPLE rather than the oligarchs and the imperialist powers. Which is why, early on, they identified Barotba as a grouping that could be worked with FOR the Ukrainian people.

Luckily because of Ukrainian history, there IS a far left tradition in Ukraine to work with, something that's been lacking in some of the other hot spots that have popped up over the last few years in other areas. Even though the left and the working class in Ukraine has been atomized, it's still there just waiting for the spark to bring it all together.

I'm actually quite proud of the League for a Fifth International and the analytical work it's done on Ukraine. Whether it's because of the closeness (Ukraine shares a border with Germany which is where the League has one of the largest sections in Europe) or just because they've gotten better at it, IMO, they've been spot on throughout the crisis in Ukraine.
