Records

I always look for record collections at yard sales. If albums are in very fine to mint conditions, I'm in. Most of the time they have them priced at a buck apiece, I offer to buy them all for half of that and they are more than happy to unload them all at once.
Yesterday I was at an Amish yard sale. Spotted a stack, so I looked them over. All were near mint and they were a buck each. 90 albums and they were trilled to dump all of them for $45.
About half of them were promotional LPs from the early 80s. Looking on sold ones on EBay, the ones I bought sell for a low of $3 up to $40, nice score. There were 5 Columbia ones made for Ford Motor company. Only one side had groves and titles like Number 1 Van in the land, 1967 Introduction and The Six Life of a Car Salesman. Didn't find any sold ones on EBay, but asking prices like $29 to $79 for single ones. Those 5 more than paid for the whole collection.
The local Amish here buy up estates and sell at auctions and yard sales. I don't think they bought them to listen to The Romantics and Culture Club, but who knows?

for sale that looked quite familiar to me and I asked where he got it. From my booth! LOL. That was a first. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything I wanted to buy. Good find on the records. A always look at them, but with one exception I've never found anything too terribly valuable. I can sell a few artists really quickly for a few bucks and I always get those, but no Beatles butcher covers yet.

I paid $75 for it. All in mint condition. EBay prices ranged from $2 to $25. Put them in a big box and had $3.50 each on them. After a year I only had 4 left over. I was thrilled with the profit and am sure that some of the buyers were too. The price on new vinyl is crazy.
