Does Anyone Know What "Private Listing" In E-bay Means....

I wanted to see how bidding was going on an item I'm interested in and all the bidding on this item indicates "privat listing". I want to learn what that means as I want to know what I'm up against if I bid on this item. Any help would be appreciated.

This doesn't mean as much as it used to since ebay doesn't list the full usernames of other bidders
in regular auctions anymore anyway. Private listings give a buyer more privacy but it makes it harder
for a buyer to see if there was any shill bidding going on.

The private listing option hides the identities and email addresses of all bidders, both during and after a sale. Only the seller and the highest bidder see the listing results, and only the seller knows who bought the item.

I assume that the buyer knows that they bought the item sooner or later....

determines that? And how is it done?

If I wanted to assure that I remained somewhat anonymus when I bid - how do I do that?
