for all the body of work he's done, is what must have been one of his last appearances, as Jed Bartlet's priest in The West Wing. The episode was the one in which Barlet wrestled with the question of whether to allow the execution of a murderer; one of the best in that great series. It wasn't a huge role, but he was quietly powerful and quite unforgettable.
