It is a great film, a trial narrative.

The judge is played by Joseph N. Welch, who is otherwise famous for saying, "At long last, have you no sense of decency?", to Eugene McCarthy. He was notably nominated for a Golden Globe for his role here.

He died the year after this film was released.

The musical score is by Duke Ellington, who also appears briefly in the film.

The supporting cast is extraordinary, especially Arthur O'Connell and George C. Scott (both Oscar nominated) Also, don't miss Eve Arden. (I confess to being a huge Eve Arden fan.)
